The barbershop is a young, dynamic business targeting mainly men, with a casual and welcoming vibe.
The interface I designed aimed to translate that atmosphere into a digital space – allowing customers to book appointments and purchase products independently, while maintaining a smooth, intuitive experience.
At the same time, the focus was also on the needs of the business owner: streamlining operations, handling communications, and reducing distractions during the workday.
Understanding the business
I conducted an in-depth interview with the owner to identify core pain points: endless phone calls, schedule confusion, and a messy booking process.
User research & flow mapping
I created short surveys for customers, mapped common use cases (booking, product purchase, employee management), and defined the required screens.
Wireframes & UX flow
I designed low-fidelity wireframes for each screen, focusing on the core booking flow – choosing a barber, date, and time, followed by confirmation.
UI design & brand alignment
I used bold visuals and warm colors that reflect the shop’s character. I also created custom icons and subtle animations in After Effects to elevate the design.
Prototype & handoff
I built a full interactive prototype in Adobe XD, added detailed dev links and clear design documentation, and worked closely with the developer through the final handoff.
The main issue was the constant phone calls from customers who wanted to book appointments or order products. This led to:
Overload and distraction for the owner
Scheduling errors
Customers who couldn’t book independently
Requests for product delivery instead of pickup
After defining the flow and screen structure, I created detailed wireframes – focusing especially on the appointment flow and screen transitions.
I created two interactive prototypes – one for the customer interface and one for the manager interface. They were used for user testing and handed over to the developer for implementation.
I led the full UX/UI process:
From user research, scenario planning, and flow design, to UI, prototyping, and full handoff to the developer – ensuring a clear and structured delivery.
"I was glad to work with Or. He was very attentive to my requests, and even when we disagreed on something, he knew how to guide me through it and reach a better result. He's very professional, with great design taste, and a kind and pleasant person."
